Canvas to Cloth

Ash Leslie is an abstract artist based in Coledale on the South Coast of NSW. Rachel worked with slow fashion brand Fabrik and Ash to create limited edition patterns from Ash's paintings, forming the Canvas to Cloth apparel collection.

Ash's vibrant artwork was digitally printed with pigment inks in an environmentally friendly process, before being sewn into Fabrik's iconic timeless dresses, pants and jumpsuits.

Rachel documented Ash at her home studio, producing a short video and photography series looking at the process of making the collection. She also produced all of the marketing assets for print and web, advertising the collection and it's launch, and oversaw thelookbook photoshoot.

The collection was launched with a pop-up event at Thirroul lifestyle store Noel & Gladys, where Ash's original works were on display along with the apparel range. All paintings were sold, and the collaboration was one of Fabrik's most successful collections to date.
